A, B and C are partners sharing in the ratio of 3: 2: 1. They admit D for l / 4th share. It is agreed that B would retain his original share. New ratio will be……….  (C.B.S.E. Comptt. 2019)

SOLUTION

New Ratio: 15: 16: 5: 12

Working:

B’ s share = 2 / 6; D’ s share =1 / 6; Remaining Share = 1 – 2 / 6 – 1 / 4 = 5 / 12
This will be divided between A and C in 3: 1
A’s new share = 5 / 12 x 3 / 4 = 15 / 48
C’s new share = 5 / 12 x 1 / 4 = 5 / 48
New Share of A, B, C and D = 15 / 48: 2 / 6: 5 / 48: 1 / 4 or l5: 16: 5: 12
